Happy Friday everyone!
Today I’m happy to show you one of my favorite backstage and runway from the ones I covered this past PFW: The Manish Arora AW15 collection!
This was my second time covering this show, and let me tell you I love it!
I totally understand that it’s not for the faint of heart, and probably most of you wouldn’t dare to wear any of his clothes but I think one must see it more as art than as clothing.
It is always such a joy to shoot his collections because not only are they full of color and magic, but they have so many interesting details to photograph. But the best for me is that he always makes references to pop culture and what’s going on in the world.
For example, two seasons ago, he made a collection inspired from the game Candy Crush, which at the time was making a revolution having hooked adults and kids alike… so he took than, and then created a whole universe around it!
This time, his main inspiration came from the acclaimed TV series Game of Thrones; if you happen to watch this TV show, then you will notice the references: The dragon, the wolf, the pieces resembling the Night’s Watch coat, the nature elements, the “King Joffrey” hair-do, etc.
The cool thing is that he won’t be too literal, but add little “easter eggs” that will bring you to the original inspiration, mixed with his magical touch of colors and glitter.
Even if you do not watch this TV show or would never wear something as flashy as this, I bet you’ll find the collection extremely interesting!
I hope that I manage to transmit through these photos, the genius and folklore of this designer!
Let me know your thoughts!!
