We had wanted to do this trip for ages; well at least since last year when we tried to plan it but realized that going by train would be too much of a hassle.
This time it was different because now that Meg has a car of her own, we knew we could finally make it happen!
The main purpose of this trip was to go to the House of Christian Dior Granville, but since having a car offers so much liberty and flexibility we tried to pass to a couple other spots along the way.
Before getting there, we noticed that Hydrangeas started popping all over the place… and as hardcore fans of flowers we did an impromtu stop just to take photos of course!
Once arriving to Granville and having left our things at the airbnb apartment facing the pier, we stopped for lunch at Picorette a cute little place that Meg’s friends had recommended… it turned out to be an amazing surprise, because even though it is technically a tea-room, they offer a full menu of delicious food! Each one got a dish on their own and then (as full as we were) we split the yummiest pavlova I have eaten so far!
(So now you know, if you go to Granville, Picorette is a must visit!)
With full bellies we were ready to make our way to CD’s dream home. We were extremely lucky the weather was better than we could have hoped for: blue skies, warm sun and almost no wind; the perfect mix to appreciate (and photograph) the cute pink house and its garden full of colorful flowers.
We were told we would be out in 20 minutes since the house is small, but us, we stayed for over 4 hours!
You must think we are crazy, but we really took all our time to let the beauty sink in.
Now I realize how amazing it is to do this type of plans with people who are in the “same channel”as you or who share the same passion-obsession over pretty places… the four of us were all over the place chatting, smelling the flowers, taking a crazy amount of photos and of course, posting on instagram!
Best part was that we could do so without worrying about taking too long, or annoying the others.
But don’t worry, we did not spend the whole 4 hours just snapping away, we also took a break at the pretty “Salon de Thé” where we had a blast drinking tea, eating french pastries and sunbathing.
After our afternoon at the Dior House, we headed to a nearby beach called Jullouville to enjoy the view of the sea and the sunset while drinking Cidre and to finish this wonderful day we went back to Granville to have dinner at a local spot and drink more Cidre.
Next day, was another story, but nice nonetheless. We woke up to a grey, windy and very rainy day, which we kicked off with a stop to the boulangerie, a quick ride along the island and then hitting the road all the way to Bayeux, where we ate galettes Normandes, attempted but failed to enter the famous “Tapisserie” Museum and quickly visited the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Bayeux.
And finally, before getting to Paris we did an express stop at Trouville to leave Anne… It’s too bad we couldn’t stay for a little while cause the place looked lovely!
I was so impressed by this pretty place that I’m already planning to go next Saturday, so expect lots of photos!
Phew! If you managed to read all of this… you have earned my heart :)
Thanks for passing by, hope you like the photos!
