To me, it was a dream come true to be able to shoot the RTW Giambattista Valli Backstage and Runway show at the past edition of Paris Fashion Week.
As a matter of fact, I still dream of photographing one of his Couture shows, but that’s yet to come (I’m determined); and although there were no fluffy cotton-candy dresses I still felt like a little kid in a candy store.
The silhouettes were modern with touches of romance and girly-ness: ruffles, floral embroideries, sequin panels, lace and more… all true eye-candy to me.
I wanted to photograph every single detail of each garment, but the backstage was quite busy and so I had to restrain myself…
The show took place as usual, at the Grand Palais, at an imposing room that can fit probably hundreds of guests.
Some of the “front-rowers” I spotted were Olivia Palermo, Elena Perminova, Miroslava Duma, Natasha Goldenberg, Helena Bordon, Erika Pelosini and Leigh Lezark; some of them wearing past creations by Valli.
Overall it was a beautiful show to cover, no need for extravagant production, or crazy hair and make-up… just like every season, the clothes spoke and made an impression by themselves.
All I can hope now is that I get to shoot more for this stunning brand in the near future.
