I love to dress pretty, who doesn’t?
Well obviously everyone dresses in a certain way because they feel good in those clothes; personally I can say that pretty much everything I wear makes me feel nice and pretty (except on lazy sweatpants days), but I’m speaking of a different level.
You know when you have a special occasion and you make a little extra-effort buying something nice that you wouldn’t wear on a casual day? Usually those times, you feel all dapper and happy and want to show off even if just a little bit… In my case that happens whenever I put on super girly outfits, with big puffy skirts, glitter, tulle, pastel colors, etc.
But it turns out that despite that style making me feel all cute and happy, I do not wear it on a daily basis… I don’t know if it’s because I feel like I’m supposed to look more “proper” on my day to day or just because I do want to keep it on a “special” category.
Well I’m trying my best to do that more often and not leave it only for when I have an event or commitment that requires so. Of course that doesn’t mean I’m gonna take out the sequin gown and wear it to the super-market, but definitely I intend to try to add a little magic touch to my everyday looks.
Today’s look is exactly about that. If you pay attention, it’s actually a pretty simple ensemble with not too many elements or even colors but the little details make all the difference.
The star is the trench coat from Bleu Tango, a french label that stands out for it’s colorful and original prints. What makes it so special is that it is a staple garment with a twist. Rather than being camel or beige it is white with the cutest cloud print ever.
To match it’s beauty, I paired it up with cute glitter pumps and as accessory, a bouquet of white anemones… you can not imagine how pretty I felt, I was literally in the clouds with this outfit!
It was perfect for a day strolling in Paris and taking photos at some of my favorite (also cutest) spots!
That day I also got a reminder of the power that clothes have… just a simple twist (as I mentioned) and I was attracting all the eyes in the street! From the women who take genuine offense in me wearing something out of the ordinary (the minority), to those who actually smiled and made compliments about how perky and sweet my outfit was (the majority).
I got all that attention because I dared to wear something pretty… I don’t know you but I actually thing that’s pretty cool!
That day only reinforced my objective of always trying to look my best and wear clothes that make me happy!
What do you think? Do you always wear what you love or do you let yourself be intimidated (a bit like me) by society’s sartorial rules?
