inspiration | fashion exhibitions in paris

March 21, 2013

As you may know, Paris has a lot to offer in terms of culinary, entertainment, cultural (etc) experiences. And temporary exhibitions are one of my favorites.

Of course, I personally go more towards the fashion and photography kind but there’s so many options in any possible field that there’s always an exhibition worth paying a visit to.
So in this occasion I just wanna share a few photos and my opinion on two of the Fashion exhibitions I have recently visited.

One being “Arrrgh! Monstres de Mode” which is presented at La Gaîté Lyrique until the 7 of April 2013 and  “Linder” at the Musée d’Art Moderne, which you can pay a visit until the 21st of April 2013.

What I liked about these two exhibitions is that they are definitely out of the ordinary (well, the art they present is), and well they are both pretty colorful and you may know I need a strong dose of rainbow every now and then :)

The Monsters exhibition lays on fashion creations that go beyond what’s aesthetic and reach the point of the grotesque. Honestly I found it really fun and pleasant to visit… there were a lot of kids who seemed to be really enjoying it.
I personally didn’t feel the “fashion” part as strong, but it’s still really appealing to see these odd pieces of art.

Talking about the second exhibition. To be honest, I didn’t know Linder Sterling before; but I knew I had to see the exhibition as soon as I read the description of her art. She basically focused on the visual arts, fashion and music. But certainly my favorite are her collages… she plays with common photos and put elements that change it completely. Among the things she uses the most are lips, eyes, flowers, butterflies, cakes and white goods… but of course there’s many other things. As well she plays a lot with erotic images; I’m personally more drawn towards the fashion related ones, but it’s really interesting to see how she transforms them.
If you’re into alternative and maybe even controversial art, I think you might like this one.

Ok… so after my very long speech, I let you see the photos. Hope you like them!!!
